Colours can evoke strange feelings in people. Nicely chosen colours can make the difference between a nice painting and an absolute masterpiece. And in some cases, a colour can have a special place in someone’s heart.
The Sports Classic Grey has always had a mesmerizing effect on the youngest scion of the Leeuwenkamp family. The subtle glow is commonly used by Porsche, on the 997 model in particular. To see this tint on a 1988 Defender 90 soft top will be a unique and thrilling sight, fulfilling a boyhood dream for the youngest Leeuwenkamp.
When this Defender was originally delivered in Italy in 1988, it was blue and had a hard-top. We did a body-off restoration, blasted the chassis and powder coated the standard parts all in black. We revised the original V8 engine, modified the suspension of the car and put new shock absorbers in. On top of that, we replaced the hard-top for an Exmoor Trim navy blue soft-top.
As far as the interior, we completely re-did it. The original chairs were lined with black/grey/white squares, as well as the 4 tip-up seats that we put in the back and the dashboard. The roof and sun visors are all Alcantara Black, while everything else is sprayed in the unique color of the car
