You never forget your first, they say, and with the LK01 that’s no different. We can even say that without this big black beauty, the entire LK line wouldn’t exist. This impressive Defender 110 can righteously call itself the patriarch of the LK family.
This 7-seater was first delivered to the Netherlands in 2008 as an X-Tech edition (the most luxurious version with tilted roof), and we sold it to the current owner in October 2015. While it already had a lot of special features, such as leather interior with perforated seats and a white embroided Land Rover logo, it was customized to fit the wishes of the new owner.
On the outside of the car we added a black twisted grill with matching grids on the hood and mudguards. The headlights were replaced by darker LED lights, and we installed LED flashing lights and LED bright lights. Inside, we painted parts of the dashboard and the roof Alcantara black to match the exterior. A magnificent sight.
Whilst customizing this car, which we called the 110 Black Edition – Built by Leeuwenkamp at the time, the idea dawned on us that this is what we want to do with our passion and knowledge. To (re-)create Land Rover Defenders, and to let the world enjoy the quality and affection we have for this archetype of a car. We renamed this one the LK01, and a new line of unique cars was born.
